Old Home Week events at the library:

Note that the Friends of Madison Library will not be holding a book sale during Old Home Week, they have changed to a monthly book sale, on the third Saturday of each month. The next book sale will be on Saturday, August 16 from 9 am to 12 noon.

Madison Trebuchet Challenge: Saturday, August 2 at 3 pm at Burke Field. Form a team and build a trebuchet, bring it to compete for a prize for furthest launch. Sponsored by the library and UNH Cooperative Extension/4-H.

Old Home Week Photo Contest: During Old Home Week (August 2-9), visit the library (or the library’s website) to view the Old Home Week Photo Show, vote by 5 pm on Friday for your favorite photo for the People’s Choice Award.

Be a Nature Detective: Tuesday, August 5 at 10 am. Art educator Cynthia Robinson will lead this creative workshop. Kids will make their own nature investigation notebooks out of (mostly) recycled materials, then we’ll go out and start investigating! For kids ages 5 to 12.

Acoustic Evening: Wednesday, August 6 at 7 pm. Tammy and John Flanigan invite you to come share music or poetry, or come to listen. Song circle to follow. Refreshments. FMI call 662-2489.

Big Trees of NH: Friday, August 8 at 9:30 am. Kevin Martin, author of “Big Trees of NH” hiking guide, will give an illustrated talk followed by a field trip to a local “big tree.”

Old Home Week Photo Contest Prizes Announced: Friday, August 8 at 6 pm. Right before the parade in the John F. Chick Meeting Room. Judges from the North Country Camera Club will award 1st, 2nd, 3rd prizes. People’s Choice Award is based on votes by people viewing the show during Old Home Week.
