photo of girl holding snakeWe’re moving quickly toward the start of Old Home Week. Today we hosted a reptile show with Reptiles on the Move. About 80 people, including children from Madison Rec Program and Bearcamp Valley Children’s Center, plus several local families came and saw, touched, and held a variety of reptiles from around the world. Fun!

The deadline for submitting photos for this year’s Old Home Week Photo Contest and Show is Friday at 6 pm. The theme this year is “wild life,” and note that this doesn’t necessarily mean animals. (Just remember it’s a family show!) Be sure to come vote for your favorite photo for the People’s Choice prize. The winning photo will be featured in next year’s Madison Town Report. Judges from the North Country Camera Club will award 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons.

Finally, as this is posted, the Friends of Madison Library are busy setting up this year’s book sale. They have categorized the books for easy browsing, and this year we have some great art books, cookbooks, and of course, children’s books and popular novels.  Come on Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm for the big sale. Since the sale is typically crowded on Saturday, to make it easier for those who have limited mobility, the Friends will open the sale for handicap access only on Friday from 3 to 5 pm.

Reptiles, photos, and book sales (oh my!)
