For kids (teens and adults welcome, too)

  • Sign Up starts on Saturday, June 17. Children 16 and under who sign up for a Summer Reading Program will get a voucher for a ticket to a Portland Sea Dogs game, while supplies last.
  • Friends of Madison Library monthly book sale, Sat., July 20 and August 17 from 9 am to noon. There will be LOTS of children’s books this month. Come stock up! Fill those beach and camp bags with books.
  • Story times for little ones, Fridays at 10:00 am. Stories, rhymes, movement. For ages 2 to 5.
  • Story time and Activity, The first Thursday of the month at 4 pm, August 2. For ages 3-6.
  • Galaxy Slime, Wed., June 26 at 2:00 pm. Who doesn’t like making galactic glitter slime?!
  • Egg Drop in Space, Wed., July 10 at 2:00 pm. We will see who can safely land their alien egg! Will yours go splat?
  • Marshmallow Lunar Base, Wed., July 17 at 2:00 pm. Make your own lunar base with all sorts of whacky  supplies!
  • Shrinky Dinks in Space, Wed., July 24 at 2:00 pm. Remember these? Color, cut, bake…voila!
  • Constellation Night Lights, Wed., July 31 at 2:00pm. Make your own constellation lantern!
  • Telescope Decorating, Wed., August 7 at 2:00 pm. Color, decorate and play with your personalized new telescope!

FOR EVERYONE:

  • Deadline to bring in your completed Early Literacy Activity Sheet or Reading Log, or enter your reading online: Wednesday, August 7.
  • Bookmark Contest: Due by Saturday, July 13. Pick up a bookmark form at the library, design a bookmark with the theme “A Universe of Stories.” Winners’ bookmarks will be reproduced and distributed at the library this summer and throughout the year.   Open to all kids AND adults!
  • Wrap-Up Party! Wednesday, August 14 at 2:30 pm. Prizes for successfully completing the Madison Summer Reading Program will be awarded along with some delicious cake! Adults, teens and kids…come and reap your hard earned recognition.

Adult Book Group meets on fourth Tuesdays at 7 pm. Refreshments! Borrow books ahead of time at the library.
