Our copies of Following Atticus, this year’s One Book One Valley book have arrived! Madison Library book group will discuss this title at its October 25 meeting. Pick up a copy, and join us, or join in any of the One Book One Valley events. We’re happy to see snow for school vacation week. As the storm continues on Monday, the Madison Library will be closed as our town’s road crews work hard to clear roads first, then parking lots like ours once the blizzard is done. We have two children’s programs lined up for this week: Tuesday, Dec. 27 at 2 [...] Please stop by the library on Saturday between 10 am and 1 pm for our annual holiday open house. We’ll have some seasonal music playing, festive food, coffee, and eggnog. Take a minute to visit with neighbors, library staff, Trustees, and Friends. Be sure to notice the lovely wreaths (made in Madison by Mrs. Brooks) that [...] Come to the library on Saturday, November 13, 2010, as the Madison Library joins with thousands of libraries across the country to celebrate the educational, recreational, and social value of games with a community gaming day. This event is multigenerational, so bring yourself, your friends, your family. All games will be taught, and novices as well as [...] The Madison Library will host a presentation on Criminal Investigations on Thursday, October 28 at 7 pm in the library’s Chick Room. New Hampshire State Police Detective Justin Rowe will speak about criminal investigations in New Hampshire, focusing on how they are handled in rural areas. This program is part of the One Book, One Valley [...] Today is the start of Banned Books Week, an annual event organized by the American Library Association to draw attention to challenges made to libraries in an effort to remove titles from library shelves. Stop in and see our display of some of the titles that have been challenged over the past few years. According to [...] The library’s a cool place on a hot day. Here’s some of what’s going on: We added a power strip to the reading table for folks to plug in laptops and a new laptop computer for public use. The Art Show is back for July! Madison Library now has a set of books on the theme “A More Perfect Union” for the community to enjoy. Music! Kevin and Michelle Coffey and Natalie Rollins will perform songs from [...] The Skywatch with NH Astronomical Society scheduled for Thursday, June 10, 2010 has been rescheduled to Friday, June 11, when the sky has a better chance of being cloud-free (or mostly cloud-free.)
