Hugo Awards

The ballot for this year’s big science fiction prize was posted recently. You can find three of the five “best novel” nominees at the Madison Library: The Yiddish Policemen’s Union by Michael Chabon, Brasyl by Ian MacDonald, and Rollback by Robert J. Sawyer. While science fiction doesn’t go out as often as, say, the latest James Patterson book, we like to keep some recent sci-fi on hand. Sci-fi authors’ versions of the future can inform scientific exploration (like Arthur C. Clarke), act as a cautionary tale (Ray Bradbury), or just be a wildly fun trip (Neil Gaiman).
