The Madison Library will host a NH Humanities Council lecture, “Angling in the Smile of the Great Spirit,” with author, speaker, professor, and angler, Dr. Hal Lyon on Wednesday, June 6 at 7 pm in the John F. Chick Room at the Madison Library.

In this illustrated presentation, Lyon will share tales, secrets, folklore, and history of fishing in New Hampshire’s big lakes, especially Lake Winnipesaukee which translates into “Smile of the Great Spirit.” Lyon’s definitive book on glacial lake fishing , “Angling in the Smile of the Great Spirit,” was named 2008’s “Best Book of the Year” by the New England Outdoor Writers Association. He produced two DVDs in the “Love Affair With Angling” series which includes humorous, colorful interviews with the 15 Master Anglers in his book who cumulatively have over 600 years experience fishing Lake Winnipesaukee.
