New DVDs

Thanks to accumulated proceeds from sales of VHS tapes and sales of photo calendars donated by Dick Pollock, we were able to purchase a few extra movies for the library this month.

• Winter’s Bone: dramatic thriller set in modern rural America, Oscar nominee for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress
• Secretariat: story of the Triple Crown phenom of 1973
• The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest: based on Stieg Larsson’s wildy popular third book
• Ramona and Beezus: based on Beverly Cleary’s children’s books about a very real fictional family
• Sherlock, Season One: set in modern London; world’s smartest detective armed with a Blackberry
• The Sicilian Girl: based on a true story, a 17-year old takes on the Mafia

• Star Wars Trilogy: the first three George Lucas made – Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo – VI, V, VI in series
• Grease: popular musical from the 70s about the 50s, fun for singing along
