The Care and Feeding of Your Digestive System: An Owner’s Manual, Complete with Troubleshooting Tips
Madison Library hosts, “The Care and Feeding of Your Digestive System: An Owner’s Manual, Complete with Troubleshooting Tips,” a presentation by Jen Higgins on Thursday, February 25 at 7 pm in the John F. Chick Room.
“All disease begins in the gut.” Although Hippocrates made this statement more than 2000 years ago, modern science is proving how right he was. Some tummy troubles are obvious such as heart burn, irritable bowel syndrome, gall bladder problems, gas, bloating, constipation and diarrhea. But don’t be fooled.
Many of today’s modern complaints such as fatigue, lack of mental focus, anxiety, depressed mood, sleep disorders, weight gain, immune problems and musculoskeletal pain also have their roots in digestive disorders, with or without
digestive symptoms. Do not ignore these important symptoms. Your body is trying to get your attention!
Using functional nutrition, Jen (MSHN) will demonstrate how dietary and lifestyle strategies can address and resolve these symptoms at the core. Topics include:
- How the digestive system is supposed to work
- Common factors that harm the digestive system
- How digestive dysfunction contributes to chronic and degenerative diseases
- How to begin the care and feeding of your digestive system as the basis of optimal health
This event is free and open to the public.
Refreshments will follow the presentation.
