Brian Irwin

The Madison Library will host, “The Native Way: Searching for Indigenous Species Amid a Changing Environment,” a presentation by Dr. Brian Irwin, on Thursday, August 13 at 7 pm in the library’s John F. Chick Meeting Room.

Join us for a fly-fishing presentation that explores some of North and Central America’s most productive fisheries. From the Upper Tuolumne River in Yosemite, California, under the smoke of the recent Rim Fire, to the northern reaches of Manitoba, from Texas’ Lower Laguna Madre to the shallow flats of Southern Belize, enjoy adventures that explore how human impact is affecting a not-yet-faltering set of waters.  Dam removal, agricultural runoff and nascent conservation efforts will all be discussed during a year in search of trophy brook trout, redfish, permit and Snake River native cutthroat.

Brian Irwin is a local physician, journalist and fly fisherman.  Irwin is the New England Field Editor for FLY FISHERMAN magazine, a consulting editor for the Bonefish & Tarpon Journal and a travel correspondent for the Boston Globe. www.brianirwinmedia.com.

This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served following the presentation.
