The Madison Library will host a New Hampshire Fish & Game program, “Understanding Bobcats in New Hampshire,” a presentation by Wildlife Stewards Dennis Walsh and Doug Whitfield, on Thursday, June 25 at 7 p.m. in the library’s John F. Chick Meeting Room.

Dennis and Doug have a wealth of experience dealing with difficulties that arise when wildlife and humans find themselves interacting in ways that surprise both of them. For many years, Dennis was with the Animal Control Division of the Manchester Police Department, and is a New Hampshire Fish and Game Hunter Education instructor. Doug is a life-long outdoors man and hunter. He lived many years in bear country and spent a lifetime observing and experiencing this animal. They have numerous up-close-and-personal encounters with wildlife, including relocating bear, moose, deer, and other wildlife that stray too close to human habitats.

Before you even think about putting out those tempting bird feeders, please join us for this interesting presentation covering a brief history of wildlife populations in North America, habitat and animal decline, conservation and re-population, and funding. There is information on bobcat habitat, habits, and research in NH.

Bring your curiosity and your questions!
