I’m reading The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak, a book marketed in the US to young adults, but to adults in Australia, where it was first published. It’s becoming harder to pinpoint the audience for some new titles, and that may be a good thing, especially as teens start to explore the library beyond the junior fiction and even beyond the young adult section. The ALA’s Alex Awards are a great resource for finding adult books that have teen appeal. There’s a display at the library now with Alex Award winners and also some young adult books that are good reads for adults as well.
