As I was getting ready to place a book order today, I ran across this NYT essay about the dilemma of printing Al Gore’s book, An Inconvenient Truth, even on recycled paper. Borrowing a book from a library is probably the best way to dilute the environmental effects of book production since several people share the same book, although the publishing companies would rather everyone bought their own copy. Another great way to recycle reading material is to come to the Friends of Madison Library book sale on August 5th. And if you’ve got books to recycle, bring them in and we’ll put them in the sale. (Please don’t bring encyclopedias, text books, or musty-smelling books.)
