New books at the library this week: No Country for Old Men, Cormac McCarthy’s long-awaited new novel has great reviews; Vietnam War novel The Quick and the Dead by Randy Lee Eickhoff; Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See examines women’s lives in 19th century China and promises to be a popular book group choice; Night Swimming by Robin Schwarz, whose story starts in Gorham, New Hampshire, but ends up elsewhere; Looking for Peyton Place by Barbara Delinsky, which (no surprise), also has a New Hampshire setting; and The Fate of Africa: From the Hopes of Freedom to the Heart of Despair: A History of 50 Years of Independence by Martin Meredith.
