How about some music for a change? The library just added two classic jazz CDs: Time Out by the Dave Brubeck Quartet, Mingus Ah Um by Charles Mingus, and a new release by Robert Plant and his new band The Strange Sensation titled Mighty Rearranger. You may have heard “Shine It All Around” on the radio. New books include Specimen Days by Michael Cunningham who you may remember as the author of The Hours. This time instead of Virginia Woolf’s Mrs. Dalloway as a common thread, he’s using Whitman’s Leaves of Grass. We’ve also added The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova, a scary story about a young woman researching Vlad the Impaler. In new nonfiction, try Freakonomics by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner which takes an everyperson approach to explaining economics.
