Summer Readers celebrated their accomplishments on Wednesday, August 15 with prizes and cake. Twenty-nine children and nine adults completed the program, and each earned a prize. “I Love Reading” ribbons for reading the mosts books were awarded to Gabby Ames and Hazel Varella. The children read, as a group, for over 219 hours and 40 minutes. The adults together read 91 books. Great job everyone!
We were once again fortunate to have the support of many local businesses, who donated prizes for readers. See our Summer Reading Sponsors page for a full list. Eileen Yandolino provided many of the fun prizes for the children’s weekly drawings.
For providing programs, we thank Peter Duran and the Boston Museum of Science, The Brothers Plad (Sean and Matt Plasse), Jean Heilprin Diehl, author of “Three Little Beavers,” Bethani of Elaine Conners Center for Wildlife, Will Scopa and Mark Stowbridge at Silver Lake Railroad, and the Friends of Madison Library for sponsoring Diane Cook Johnson of Soft Touch Farm and Matt Krug.
