Hiking enthusiasts as well as people who need some inspiration to get their family on the trails are invited to a slideshow talk by Dan Szczesny, author of “The Adventures of Buffalo and Tough Cookie”, at the Madison Library on Saturday, March 29 at 11 am. Dan (trail name “Buffalo”) and his young hiking partner Janelle (“Tough Cookie”) will give an illustrated talk about the book, about how they hiked New England’s “52 with a View“, and what they learned along the way.
When hiker Dan Szczesny and his nine-year-old ward, Janelle, first set foot on the trail to Mt. Kearsarge in November 2011, neither of them knew that this easy hike to one of the state’s most popular mountain tops would change both their lives. But what followed was a hiking odyssey that lasted over a year as the two hikers criss-crossed the state on their way to a 225-mile epic attempt to complete a little-known hiking list called “The 52 with a View.”
This event will take place in the John F. Chick meeting room, and is free and open to the public. Dan Szczesny will have copies of his book available for sale and signing after the presentation.
