Let Freedom Ring – an event to mark 50th anniversary of the March on Washington and Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I have a dream” speech – will take place on Wednesday, August 28 at 2:30 pm at the Madison Library. Gather to watch a video of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I have a dream” speech, followed by bell ringing at 3 pm to mark the anniversary. Anyone who cares to share stories of their involvement in the civil rights movement is warmly invited to come share them before or after the bell ringing. Bells at the red schoolhouse at Madison Elementary School and the Madison Church will be rung at 3 pm.
The King Center for Nonviolent Social Change and the NH Humanities Council have coordinated this effort to mark the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I have a dream” speech by asking libraries and other community organizations across NH and the US to host programs about the speech and the civil rights movement.
