Lots going on in town this weekend, leading up to Memorial Day events on Monday:
- Madison Historical Society bake sale, Saturday 9 am- 1 pm at Linda Drew Smith’s on Village Road next to Silver Lake Post Office
- Madison Preschool Yard Sale, Saturday starting at 8 am in the parking lot at the Madison Church
- Silver Lake Railroad opens for the season this weekend, train rides by donation
- Old Home Week Committee serves up a Memorial Day breakfast starting at 8 am Monday at the Madison Fire Station, donations accepted
Madison’s Memorial Day observance starts at 8:30 am on Monday at the new Veterans Monument in front of Madison Town Hall. Veterans will lay wreaths and place flags. At 9 am, all are invited to gather at the Madison Church to form a parade, along with veterans, scouts, and the Kennett High School Band, and march with Color Guard to the Gilman Cemetery on East Madison Road for placement of flags on veterans’ graves. After cemetery ceremony, parade will return up East Madison Road, stopping at Madison Historical Society for flag raising.
