This evening is our book group’s first meeting for 2012. We’ll be discussing Roland Merullo’s Breakfast with Buddha. If you’re curious about how book groups work, please join us, even if you haven’t read the book. Some good things to know about our book group:
- You don’t have to like the book. Some of our best discussions are about books we have issues with.
- You don’t have to finish the book, though it helps. As long as you don’t mind having the ending given away, come anyway! Sometimes hearing other people’s thoughts gives you the incentive to finish.
- Listeners are welcome, everyone participates at their own comfort level.
- We serve refreshments.
Tonight we’ll hand out copies of our February book: The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, a fascinating nonfiction account of medical research and a family that unknowingly helped millions of people. Author Rebecca Skloot describes it in this video: http://youtu.be/1vow1ePzuqo. Pick up a copy and plan to join us on February 28.
