We’re continuing our local history project this summer by collecting oral histories from folks who would like to share their stories of Madison’s past, recent and long since. These recordings will be archived and indexed on the library’s online digital history site, now under development.
The Madison Library has a digital recorder to use to collect the interviews, thanks to a grant from the Pequawket Foundation. Collecting interviews will be done in two ways: we will hold interview sessions at the library throughout the summer, and we will lend a recorder to individuals, families or local groups that want to record interviews themselves.
Want to help? Come to one of the informational meetings explaining the project on Wednesday, June 1 at 2 pm or on Thursday, June 2 at 7 pm. On Wednesday June 22 at 2 pm and again on Thursday, June 23 at 7 pm, we will hold training sessions for people interested in learning to conduct interviews and/or to operate the recorder.
