Come to the library on Saturday, November 13, 2010, as the Madison Library joins with thousands of libraries across the country to celebrate the educational, recreational, and social value of games with a community gaming day. This event is multigenerational, so bring yourself, your friends, your family. All games will be taught, and novices as well as seasoned gamers are welcome.
From 10 am to 12 noon, games for age 6 through adult players will be featured. These will include board games like Pictureka, card games like Apples to Apples Junior, and video games like Wii racing or bowling.
Then, from 1 pm to approximately 3 pm, games will be for players ages 10 and up, and may include role-playing games, card games like cribbage, board games like Settlers of Catan, and video games.
Volunteers are needed to lead and teach games; contact Mary Cronin at the Madison Library by Friday, November 12 to volunteer.
National Gaming Day is organized by the American Library Association, which plans this annual event to encourage libraries to bridge generations and explore new literacy models through gaming as players read, learn, and play.
