The judges for this year’s Old Home Week Photo Contest were Dave Holt, Paul Tung, and Jim Barrie, all members of the North Country Camera Club. The judges used the same criteria they use for judging photos at their monthly meetings and chose the following to earn ribbons. But, as judge Paul Tung said at the awards ceremony, the most important judge is you, the photographer.
- 1st place, adult: Bob Irwin for “Painted Lady”
- 2nd place, adult: Marty Risch for “Heaven on Earth”
- 3rd place, adult: Jack Donahue for “Fireworks Over Moore’s Pond”
- 1st place, under 16: Travis Arnold, “Little Red Schoolhouse”
Honorable Mention ribbons went to:
- Sara Elsemore for “Playful Loons”
- Peter Stevens for “Silver Lake Sunrise”
- Bob Irwin for “Rock and Ice”
- Jack Donahue for “Happy Bear”
And, 76 people visited the show during Old Home Week (August 3-8) and voted for their favorite photo. The winner of the People’s Choice award is Jack Donahue for “Happy Bear.” This photo will appear on the cover of next year’s Town Report.
Thanks to all who entered, visited, and voted. All comments, like last year, supported the fact that there are a lot of talented photographers in Madison.
