Found while checking the collection to see if we have any game cookbooks now that hunting season is here: Moose Stew, published in 1988 by Herbert F. Goodwin, a Silver Lake resident, who inscribed the book to the Madison Historical Society “In loyal friendship and the love (or “lore,” the handwriting’s a bit difficult to make out) of Silver Lake.” Mr. Goodwin’s prologue states:
This book represents three years (two or three weeks at a time) of deep woods
pleasure for the author. Along with my hunting and fishing partners we have had
experiences that few humans have been privileged to enjoy even in small measure.
The book is a series of narrative essays describing the author’s hunting trips, many (if not all) made in a Seabee amphibious airplane. WorldCat lists a single library, the Maine State Library, as having this book.

And, if anyone can recommend a good, basic game cookbook, we could use one in the collection.
