I was at a NHLA conference today and attended a great presentation by Casey Bisson about the Scriblio project that he and Lichen Rancourt have developed. But, this post is actually about Beyond Brown Paper, another project that Casey put online to get community input about historical photographs of the Brown Paper Company that was a major employer in Berlin, NH during the last century. This is a huge collection of beautiful black and white photographs from the 1940s, and so far, people viewing the collection have left comments that identify people in the photographs, explain what was happening in the photos, and describe how happy they were to find part of their family’s history online. And, since it’s about Berlin, some of the comments are in French, which is very cool. Check it out, and be sure to comment if you know anything about the photos.
