Libraries and funding

In Massachusetts, libraries that do not meet state standards have their certification taken away. This can be a real problem as these libraries can no longer request inter-library loans, have access to databases provided by the state, and even get state funding. New Hampshire libraries are more autonomous, but this letter from a Massachusetts librarian is a nice reminder of the cost benefits of libraries, which applies everywhere.
