The Madison Library’s Local History Project is a community endeavor coordinated by the library, and compiled by volunteers. This website was originally developed by Mary Cronin with assistance from Bobbi Slossar, NH State Library’s technology librarian. Contact Sloane Jarell at the library if you’re interested in volunteering. Training is provided.
Here is what volunteers are working on now:
- Collecting oral histories from people in town. We provide a digital recorder, an interview guide, an recording log, and a release form.
- Scanning historical items in the library’s collection. These include Old Home Week booklets, postcards of Madison, town reports.
- Indexing old newspaper clippings, mostly obituaries.
- Transcribing oral history interviews and manuscripts.
