The Friends of Madison Library will host local author, Jonathan Hively, Thursday, April 27 at 7 pm in the John F. Chick room. In 1970, Jon moved to New Hampshire and became an engineer on the world famous, steam-powered, Mt. Washington Cog Railway. Jon worked as a brakeman, fireman and engineer from 1974-1986. He will discuss the life they had at that time, the pranks they pulled and the bizarre and sometimes thrilling experiences they shared. The book, First Out: My Life on the Mt. Washington Cog Railway, is Jon’s personal account of his colorful life while working at the Cog and what it meant to him.

Free and open to the public. Refreshments will follow the presentation.
